Scindapsus treubii ‘Moonlight’ Aurea Variegated – Rubicon, botanically known as Scindapsus treubii, is a striking collectible tropical plant admired for its thick foliage and vibrant yellow-to-golden variegation. Its sculptural leaves and contrasting coloration make it especially appealing to collectors looking for an uncommon variegated Scindapsus with a bold, refined appearance.

Plant Characteristics

This variegated Scindapsus develops thick, leathery leaves with an elongated oval to lance-shaped form and a smooth, substantial texture. The foliage typically displays a silvery-green to deep green base accented by irregular aurea variegation in shades of yellow, cream, and golden green.

Scindapsus treubii has a climbing growth habit and can produce increasingly mature foliage when allowed to grow vertically on a moss pole, plank, or trellis. Under suitable indoor growing conditions, the vines can reach several feet long, while individual leaves may become noticeably larger as the plant matures.

Care Guide

Provide bright, indirect light to support healthy growth and maintain strong variegation. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which may scorch lighter portions of the leaves.

Water when the upper layer of the growing medium has partially dried, allowing excess water to drain completely. Moderate to high humidity of approximately 60–80% is ideal, although established plants can adapt to typical indoor humidity.

Maintain temperatures around 65–85°F and protect the plant from cold drafts. Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix containing orchid bark, perlite, coco chips, and other airy materials. Vertical support is recommended for larger, more mature growth. Care level is generally moderate.

Why Collectors Love It

Collectors appreciate Scindapsus treubii ‘Moonlight’ Aurea Variegated – Rubicon for its thick, premium-looking foliage and unpredictable golden variegation. Each new leaf can develop a different pattern, giving every plant its own distinctive appearance.
