Hoya lacunosa ‘Silver Splash’ (Hoya lacunosa) is a charming collectible Hoya known for its small, textured leaves covered with attractive silver splash markings. Its compact foliage, trailing growth habit, and shimmering leaf pattern make it especially appealing to Hoya collectors and tropical houseplant enthusiasts looking for a distinctive yet manageable indoor plant.

Plant Characteristics

Hoya Lacunosa Silver Splash produces small, oval to slightly elongated leaves with a firm, lightly textured surface. The green foliage is decorated with irregular silver speckling or splash patterns, giving each leaf a unique appearance.

This Hoya has a trailing and vining growth habit, making it suitable for hanging baskets, shelves, or trellises. Under favorable growing conditions, mature vines can extend several feet while maintaining relatively compact foliage. As with many Hoyas, growth can become fuller with regular pruning and proper support.

Care Guide

Provide bright, indirect light to maintain healthy growth and encourage attractive silver markings. Avoid prolonged exposure to strong midday sun, which may damage the foliage.

Allow the growing medium to partially dry between waterings. Hoya lacunosa prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally around 50–70%, with good air circulation. Maintain temperatures between approximately 65–85°F.

Use a lightweight, well-draining soil mix containing materials such as orchid bark, perlite, coco chips, or similar airy components. Good drainage is important because Hoya roots should not remain constantly wet. This variety is generally considered easy to moderate in care.

Why Collectors Love It

Collectors love Hoya Lacunosa Silver Splash for its beautiful silver-speckled foliage, compact leaf size, and elegant trailing growth. Its decorative appearance also makes it an excellent choice for collectors who enjoy textured foliage plants and distinctive Hoya varieties.
