Alocasia Yucatan Golden Aurea Variegated, botanically referred to as Alocasia sarawakensis ‘Yucatan Princess’ Aurea Variegated, is a dramatic rare tropical plant prized for its bold golden-yellow variegation and sculptural foliage. With its upright growth habit, deep green leaves, and glowing aurea patterns, this collector Alocasia brings a strong architectural presence to any rare plant collection.

Plant Characteristics

This variegated Alocasia features large, arrow-shaped to shield-like leaves with a smooth, slightly glossy texture and strong tropical form. The foliage may display splashes, sectors, or marbled patterns of golden-yellow to lime-green variegation over a rich green base. Its upright petioles create a statuesque growth habit, making it an excellent statement plant for indoor collections, plant rooms, and tropical displays. As it matures, this Alocasia can develop larger leaves and a more commanding silhouette, with each leaf showing unique variegation intensity and pattern.

Care Guide

Grow Alocasia Yucatan Golden Aurea Variegated in bright, indirect light to support healthy growth and maintain strong variegation. Avoid harsh direct sun, which may scorch the lighter aurea sections. Keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy, allowing the top layer to slightly dry between watering. This humidity-loving Alocasia prefers 60% humidity or higher and warm temperatures between 65–85°F. Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix with orchid bark, perlite, coco chips, and a moisture-retentive component such as sphagnum moss or coco peat.

Why Collectors Love It

Collectors love this plant for its rare golden variegation, bold Alocasia structure, and premium tropical appearance. Every leaf feels one-of-a-kind, making it especially desirable for variegated plant collectors.
